Perfect Drink® recipe

Martini

Probably the best known cocktail of all time, the Martini is an evolution of the 1860s era Martinez. There are many opinions as to the perfect ratio of gin to vermouth in a Martini, with some purists saying the vermouth should be eliminated altogether (the same purists refuse to call anything a Martini that doesn't contain gin). In the end, the amount of vermouth in a Martini really comes down to personal taste. This recipe's 3:1 ratio is typical of the 1930s and 40s.
